Virgin Islands Marriage Licensing Information & Requirements

1. Send written request for Marriage License Application to:

2. If either party is divorced, a certified copy of the divorce decree must accompany the application.
   
3. If a former partner is deceased, a certified copy of the death certificate must accompany the application.
   
4. Either a money order or a certified cashier's check for $100.00 made out to the Territorial Court must accompany the application. 
   
5. The Territorial Court must receive your marriage license application eight (8) days prior to issuing your license. 
   
6. The couple must pick up their marriage license in person from Territorial Court, with a form of photo identification.
   
7. The Territorial Court is located in the Alexander Farrely Justice Complex on the waterfront in Charlotte, Amalie, St. Thomas (Federal Building). The court is open 8:30 AM. to 5:00 PM., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. *Special hours made by appointment. 
   
8.  Helpful Hint: Two weeks after mailing your application, phone Mrs. Lockhart to confirm that the court has received the application and to verify when you will pick up your license.
